Founded
in Hawaii more than nine decades ago, Suisan Company, Ltd. has risen from
humble dreams to wide commercial prominence as one of the state's top
150 companies. Its long, proud history has been written on its commitment
to superior product selection and, above all, exceptional customer service.
Ever progressive, Suisan today is the foremost food distributor on the
Big Island of Hawaii.
Started in 1907 by a small group of Waiakea fishermen and sellers,
Suisan began as an organization for marketing fresh fish. Suisan's growth
and success has been one of diversification. Following World War II,
it entered the frozen food business, took over a local shoyu (soy sauce)
and miso brewery, acquired a jam and jelly plant, and built a processing
operation for guava puree and other popular island fruits.
Today,
Suisan is a far-reaching corporation whose products are prized not only
in Hawaii, but also across the Pacific from Asia to the U.S. mainland.
An enterprise of both wholesale and retail operations, it features an
elaborate distribution system of extraordinary speed and effectiveness.
Inventories are tracked by a state-of-the-art computer network which
interacts with all of its divisions. It is no wonder that Hawaii's finest
restaurants and resorts look to Suisan for the best in harvests from
the sea and the land to please their discriminating guests.
For
so many years of progress and success -- and with plans and hopes for
many more to come -- the people of Suisan offer their warmest aloha and
say...
